Winegrowing Notes
2023 delivered about 30% above-average rainfall in late winter and spring, replenishing groundwater reserves. A cool, mild growing season followed marked by later budbreak in mid-May and slow, even ripening. It was a year marked by a long hang time with harvest beginning the second week of October and finishing the end of the month. The extended hang time with no extreme weather events offered these full, healthy clusters plenty of slow-ripening time yielding elegant, high-acid, red-fruited wines with floral complexity.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
This Grenache explodes like a bomb of lush and enticing aromas! Summer cherries, pomegranates, crème de cassis, orange peel, freshly honed stone and strawberries on biscuits. Secondary aromas of rhubarb, sandalwood, fresh tobacco, violets and blood orange add a sultry complexity. It is a seamless palate offering full red fruit flavors and exotic spice all pinned together with an incredible freshness. This wine is stunning and delicious!
