There were no frost events in 2022 and an early spring began in March bringing us first budbreak in the Lava Block. The warm trend continued through a May bloom up until harvest. It was an earlier than typical harvest; the weather dictating early ripening. Yields were light, at merely one ton per acre on average. Berry set was small and concentrated.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon greets with layers of red fruit aromatics—strawberry jam, black raspberries, red currants, cherries and pomegranates. Secondary notes of blood orange, suede leather, cappuccino foam and fresh spring flowers add allure. The palate is plush, exhibiting rich fruits backed by mineral-laden enjoyment from first sip to finish. Approachable now and enjoy over the next 10 years.
