2016 Kashmir

2016 was the last of the drought years in northern California. The dry winter caused an early bud break and a nice spring rain of two inches during early May pre-bloom encouraging a great set. Balanced canopy growth throughout the season resulted in wines with soft tannins. Our harvest was fast and furious; beginning late September and ending ten days later on October 4th.

A tsunami of aromas, the 2016 Kashmir explodes with strawberry jam, crème de cassis, ripe mulberries and sun-baked rocks.  Notes of roasted almonds, Acacia flowers, pencil lead, black cardamom and milk chocolate wind their way through the glass.  Mind blowing delicious!  Loads of black and purple fruits backed by savory flavors offer a mouth-filling powerhouse of a wine.  The Kashmir shows incredible complexity, concentration and balance with a never ending finish.  Wonderfully enjoyable in its youth and will cellar beautifully over the next 25 years.
